2011 CAPN Call for Papers

Dear CAPN Members and Associates:

The 40th Annual Meeting of the Classical Association of the Pacific Northwest (CAPN) will take place at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA on March 11-12, 2011. The meeting will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of CAPN’s foundation, which took place on June 6, 1911, in Portland, OR.

Call for Papers: We invite papers on any aspect of Graeco-Roman antiquity, and we seek those that are likely to be of broad interest and make connections among the different elements of the ancient world. Such connections can be between Greek society and Roman society, between different disciplines such as literature and history, or between different genres of literature. We especially welcome submissions which might discuss the development of Classics as a discipline in the Pacific Northwest (to help us celebrate CAPN’s 100th anniversary) as well as the instruction of Latin and Greek at primary, secondary and university levels. Teachers and students of the Classics at any level of instruction (K-12, college, or university) may submit abstracts; all papers will be judged anonymously by the Program Committee, chaired by CAPN President Andrew Goldman.

Abstracts of no more than 200 words should be submitted by email to this address (goldman@gonzaga.edu). The deadline for submissions will be January 15, 2011. You should receive a response by the first week of February.

Further details about the conference schedule, keynote address, and registration and housing will be sent out shortly, and will be accessible on the CAPN webpage. For further inquiries, contact Andy Goldman at Gonzaga University (email address below).

Hope to see you all there,

Andrew Goldman, Gonzaga University
President, Classical Association of the Pacific Northwest
